Statutory Awards
TECHFILM 2009 GRAND PRIX 40 - The moving earth
(Lars Becker-Larsen - Danimark, 52 min.) Motivation: The wonderful history of a five hundred years journey through the science of astronomy to affirm the way we view the world today. In the year of astronomy a good film that shows once again the collaboration of scientists of different nationalities and the flght of ideas over the superstition and across national borders.
INTERNATIONAL JURY PRICE 037 - ECOCRIMES - Ozone Killers
Ozon Killers
(Heinz Greuking, Thomas Weidenbach - Germany, 52 min.) Motivation: A very interesting film that has intrigued the jury. A "docu-thriller" for a new format with a great future for a very real and important subject.
PRIZE FOR BEST POPULAR-SCIENCE PROGRAM 69 - The Nile delta - The end of the miracle
(Luis Riolon - France, 54 min.) Motivation: Poor people of the world will be the first to suffer the consequences of global warming. The simple solutions found for the Nile delta that this film shows, can be spread in other countries.
PRIZE FOR BEST EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM 21 - Experiment -The Life on Wheels
(Pavel Bures - Tcech Republic, 25 min.)
Motivation: The problems experienced by disabled people in moving around the city are not usually understood by most of us. This important film follows a person with functioning legs who is confined to a wheelchair for two days, and offers valuable insights to this issue.
PRIZE FOR BEST WORK OF ART 33 - Mayrau Mine
(Miloslav Kucera - Tcech Republic, 17 min.) Motivation: In the outside museum of the Mayrau mine the world of miners and the world of artists try to find over a common way to build a new art. This film describes well the experiment.
PRIZE FOR BEST COMMERCIAL PROGRAM 15 - DIAGNOSIS - Robotic Vascular Operation
(Petr Zrno - Tcech Republic, 17 min.) Motivation: New technologies and robotics can be usefully used also in medicine. This film shows in a very clear the Czech applications of robotics in vascular and heart surgery.
INTERNATIONAL JURY MENTION 079 - FABULOUS HISTORY OF EXCREMENTS - Overthrow of throne
(Thierry Berrod - Francia, 52 min.)
Motivation: A unusual subject as this, treated in a very good and humoristic cinematographic way, could not leave the Jury in indifference. The mention is to inform the public on a new point of view on a taboo subject.

NB . On 84 documentaries of many nations presented, 26 were selected in competition.
