Latest production of IWF
The latest production of IWF ist a DVD about the first european “bioenergy village” which is named “Juehnde”. This village, situated near Goettingen, ist the first village in Europe which produces its own warmth and electricity by means of its own biogas plant. The plant is fed with energy crops like grain, corn, gras etc. and the process is promoted by adding liquid manure. So the village is self-sustainig as far as its energy is concerned. Moreover they have an equal CO2-balance.
The idea of the “bioenergy village” was born in the university of Goettingen. An interdisciplinary group of scientists had initiated a pilot project and accompanied the whole process for more than 5 years. IWF documented the development and the current work in Juehnde. The project was supported by the german government.
As an attachment to the report of the scientists “Leitfaden – Wege zum Bioenergiedorf” the DVD “Bioenergiedorf Jühnde” was published. It contains five films. The main film (30 min) reflects the whole project from its first beginning. Scientists and some villagers talk about the history, the changes and the future of Juehnde. Four clips focus on special topics like the idea, the social and economic conditions, the cycle of matters in the agriculture and the plant engeneering and construction.
